Dear Parents

– I read your kind letter over a few times and now I hasten to answer it. we are all well at present and hope this shall find you the same.

we left Dearborn on the 8 of July and got here this morning and now are waiting for further orders. Old Morgan is reported to be within (?) miles from here with a force as large again as ours. We expect to be ordered to march and meet him.

The Sitizens are coming in to Town all the while there has some ___________ have a fight with him anyway. We have got our pay now and we shall send some home. I will send $30 dollars for if we are taken prisoners it will be taken away from us but I must close.
