Alvin M. Brown, Company, H. 107th Regiment O.V.I.
Undated—But probably soon after enlistment, late 1862.
Most likely written from Brooks’ Station
Probably you would make up a little box full of things. If you could send me a can of preserved peaches and tomatoes. I would like to have some tobacco and put in some oranges and lemons. The doctor said that lemonade would be good for me to drink. You can send all this in a small box. We can’t get lemons here. Put in some rambean ? apples if you have any to spare. Nearly everybody gets boxes here. So I thought I would write for a box, too! You can easy put all these things to me in a small box.
