Dear Friend:
I now take very much pleasure in writing you a few lines Thanking you for the parcel which I recieved last night, June11th and Iam very thankful to you for remembering the boys which is in France. Well, I have been in France for some time and in the front lines and it is no joke at all. either the first time in was rather warm. But other ways, it was fine. The weather kept good until we came out (censored) having a good time and I am very sorry to say that there is no other Cheapside boys with me at all. We got split up in England. Perhaps you would like to have my address. Reg. number 789684, pte. Harley C. Hare, 19th Canadians BEF France, D. Company. If you see Mary Hamilton you can give her this address if it is not too much trouble to you.
Has there been any of the boys from town enlisting now. I supposed you hear quite often from France (censored). I suppose the people around Cheapside are looking forward for the Garden Party on July the first. I wish I was back for it and some of the good times we used to have in the winter times. this is some county but it is nothing like Canada. No fences and the thrashing machines are very queer looking affair. I guess I had better not say anything more about the county for the people might not like it. Well, I will close. Thanking you once more for your kindness, I remain as ever, a friend
