Dear Uncle
We received your note of the 18th don't you pay one cent if they do come on you and do not make any reply to them for they have sent three or four different statements to her and that proves that their is a song and you nor her either has no right to pay it until they send the right account and I do not think that she has any right to pay it even if she is in their debt which she says she is not until she receives the certificate and they have never sent it yet If it has to be [paid?] you will not luse [sic] it so you must not hold yourself [unesay?] I cannot give you any more information for I do not know any thing about it any more than what I've heard her say, do not make any reply to his note until you see Sarahlizzie, I will write to her about it.

I own the original of this letter and am offering it for sale. You may contact me for details. An agitated letter from H. C. McFadden to his uncle Mr. R. S. McKendless, apparently over a disputed account. All spelling and grammar have been left untouched. I have not been able to find Grovers Mills and welcome any clarifaction on this location.
