Submitted by Edward L. Bowman

I am in possession of a postcard I would like to share with you and your readers from my great uncle, Charlie Moreberg, to his sister, my grandmother, just before he was listed missing in action 1916. Prior to volunteering for service abroad, Charles was a constable in the Royal North-West Mounted Police Force, from 8 September 1914 to 7 September 1916. His discharge certificate is dated at: Regina, Sask., 12 September, 1916.

I do not know much about Charles except that I have another postcard, unused, which seems to imply that he trained where the Sportsmen 202 Battalion, Staff, Sargee Camp, was located, in Calgary, 1916. The photograph on the front of the postcard shows him standing at ease with four other soldiers at the camp entrance behind a stone work display for the '202 Staff'. The photographer's initials are: A.D.G.

I do not know the battlefield in which Charles went missing but I think it was Vimy Ridge. Anyway, I am very grateful to him and all the other brave men who fought in the Great War. Neither I nor my family will ever forget their heroic sacrifice. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to remember Charles once again.
